P. ludlowii Species EM 4x8' Fr Single
This native of Tibet was first discovered in S.E. Xizang near the Tsango Gorges. A handsome monument. The largest and most vigorous of all the Tree Peony species. Hardy, but can freeze to the ground in hard winters only to leap out again in spring. Blossoms can be undependable some years but covered with piercing 5" clear yellow flowers others. The huge seed pods that follow are distinctive. Worth growing for its huge, lacey, exotic mint-green foliage. Fantastic as a hedge. Our stock is from New Zealand seed.

Vesuvian Saunders 1948 ML 2x2' Fr Dbl
One of the longest blooming Lutea Hybrids, this deep dark black red double with dramatic purple undertones, grows on a perfectly rounded dwarf bush. A 1 5 year old plant is still well under my knee. The buds appear with their sharply pointed tips looking like a relative of the hybrid tea rose. 1 rie foliage is sharply cut and with the beautiful fall coloration makes a season long statement. Very vigorous.
